"Thirteenth Five-Year Plan": Environmentally friendly low-VOC coatings will usher in "warm spring"
It is understood that during the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, the country will strengthen the control of the total amount of volatile organic compounds (VOC), coordinated emission reduction of nitrogen oxides and VOCs, cars, ships, containers, furniture, Construction machinery, steel structure and coil manufacturing seven major occupations. All companies must implement VOC induction management. Environmentally friendly low-VOC coatings will usher in the "warm spring" of development, and the water-based industrial coatings may catch up with the architectural coatings and go hand in hand.
Development status of
water-based industrial coatings Water-based industrial coatings are mainly used in automobiles, railway vehicles, bridges and pipelines, steel structures, containers and other fields. At present, the level of waterborne industrial coatings in China is far from that of industrial developed countries.
Automotive coatings:
With the rapid development of the automotive industry, the amount of automotive coatings is also increasing. In recent years, new domestic automotive coating production lines are all designed with water-based coatings, and water-based coatings have become the mainstream of automotive coatings. As early as the 1960s, developed countries such as Europe and the United States have taken the lead in using water-based electrophoretic primers. At present, more than 90% of primers are based on water-based paints, and 88% of automotive middle-coats have also adopted water-based technology. The application of paint exceeds 65%.
Railway vehicle coatings and
body coatings mostly use traditional solvent-based coatings, which contain a large amount of organic solvents, which brings inconvenience to storage and transportation and hidden safety hazards. At present, more than 13,000 Huabao waterborne industrial coating vehicles have been successfully applied in China's railway wagon field. After more than 5 years of verification, the products can fully meet the quality standards of solvent-based products; the development of waterborne coating systems for railway passenger cars, Huabao The coatings company has also completed and started testing after painting. The localization and water-based processes of coatings in the areas of motor vehicles, high-speed rail, and rail transit have also entered the work plan of the General Railway.
Heavy anticorrosive coatings:
China's annual economic loss caused by metal corrosion accounts for about 4% of GDP. Such amazing losses have stimulated the development of anticorrosive coatings. The development of environmentally-friendly industrial heavy-duty anticorrosive coatings is a high-tech project being actively explored by coating experts in many developed countries around the world, and it is an emerging field in China. Water-borne alkyd systems, water-based epoxy systems (epoxy mica middle coat and epoxy zinc-rich primer), water-based inorganic zinc-rich systems, water-based epoxy ester systems, etc. are used in the field of heavy anticorrosion.
Water-based container coatings:
At present, the world's annual container output exceeds 3.5 million TEUs, with an annual coating requirement of about 400,000 tons and a value of about 6 billion yuan. At present, most of the container coatings used in the world are solvent-based, with serious environmental pollution. In the face of increasingly strict environmental protection laws, acrylic topcoats have replaced chlorinated rubber topcoats and special paints for the bottom of the boxes. Water-based container coatings have begun trial applications in China.
Support of water-based policies and regulations
Since the implementation of a 4% coating consumption tax on February 1, 2015, the “Water-based Polyurethane Coatings” HG / T4761- In 2014, three waterborne industrial coating product standards including "Waterborne Epoxy Resin Anticorrosive Coatings" HG / T4759-2014 and "Waterborne Acrylic Resin Coatings" HG / T4758-2014 were formally implemented from June 1. The industry believes that the implementation of these standards will be an important milestone in the development of water-based industrial coatings in China.
